Diving | This group of paintings I did with the intention of connecting the idea of: how things begin, the trying to be better at something within the unlikely context of the exotic, playful or seemingly out of place. The unusual occurrence that both my sister and myself were in the Olympics gives me some ability to look at the “how we got there” question. I chose images of those imperfect attempts; legs apart or toes not pointed and placed them in these special surroundings. Essentialy saying; it’s not just trying your best in order to land on a particular podium, but learning how to enjoy moving along that attempt.
